Getting Hard Water Scale Off Pool Tile
Calcium bonds to the tile face. It has to be lifted off, not rubbed at.
Buckeye sits on some of the hardest water in the Valley. Every time the surface drops in the heat, a film of mineral is left on the tile, and the next fill adds more. Nobody notices at six months. By year two there is a chalky white stripe around the whole pool, and it is the first thing anyone standing on your deck looks at.
We clear it with soft-media blasting: the media breaks the calcium loose at a pressure low enough to leave the glaze, the grout and the plaster alone. It works on glass, ceramic and stone tile, and on the rock work around grottos and waterfalls where the scale usually sits thickest.
