Expensive Tile, Wrong Method

Calcium Removal on High-End Scottsdale Finishes

The more a pool cost to build, the more damage the wrong cleaning method does to it.

Scottsdale pools are built to be looked at. Glass mosaic waterlines, negative and vanishing edges, boulder grottos, sheer descents, raised spas spilling over travertine. They are beautiful, and every one of those features is a surface that hard water evaporates off all day long.

The problem is that the usual remedies are catastrophic on finishes like these. A pumice stone across glass mosaic ruins it permanently. Silica sandblasting takes the glaze off ceramic. Acid poured down a negative edge attacks the grout and the stone below. Soft-media blasting at controlled pressure is one of the few methods that removes the deposit and leaves an expensive finish exactly as it was.

Specialty Surfaces

How We Handle Expensive Pool Finishes

Four steps that protect the finish while the mineral comes off it.

  1. Identify the Material

Glass, ceramic, porcelain or natural stone each take different settings.

  2. Test Somewhere Hidden

A discreet patch blasted first and shown to you before we continue.

  3. Dial the Pressure Down

We work at the gentlest setting that still removes the deposit.

  4. Detail the Features

Edges, basins, spillways and grottos finished rather than skipped.

Customers on Tile We Did Not Scratch

"We are so happy we were given the contact information for Miracle Blasting! We had really bad calcium buildup on our pool tile and the grotto rock. Brian came out and efficiently removed the calcium! He was courteous and clean! Thank you so much!!! Highly recommend!"

"These guys are the BEST! I have a pool that had developed calcium on the tiles. I had read about several methods to clean the calcium off but they all had risks involved, like scratching and fading. I called up Kevin with Miracle Blasting LLC and he explained how his process worked. It sounded like he really knew his stuff. He came out right away and got to work. He even went the extra mile and put a sealant on my tiles to help prevent future build-ups. He got my tile looking new... for NO EXTRA COST! I seriously can't believe the difference! If your looking for a professional company you can trust, that has better than reasonable pricing, THIS IS IT!"

"We had such a build up of mineral deposit on our pool tile. We were ready to have all the tile removed. Pricy to do but it had all become an eye sore. Then we found MIRACLE BLASTING, LLC. YaY!! We scheduled for Kevin to come out. He came when he said he would. We didn't expect to see such a difference. We're 100% satisfied. THANK YOU Kevin Trumbull! You save us a few thousand dollars."

Scottsdale Questions

High-End Finish Questions From Scottsdale Owners

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons Scottsdale customers call us. Glass shows every scratch, which rules out stones and grinding entirely. Soft media at low pressure removes the mineral and leaves the glass surface intact, and we always test a hidden area first.

So are we — that is exactly why we test a hidden patch before touching the rest.
