Why Arizona Pools Stay Open

Closing a pool is a freeze-protection measure. Phoenix does not freeze meaningfully, so there is nothing to protect against and no reason to shut a pool down. What people usually mean by winterising here is simply neglecting it from November to March.

Winter is genuinely the best time to do the big jobs. Draining and refilling is kinder to plaster when the sun is not at full strength, acid washes and coatings cure better in mild weather, and tile blasting is far more pleasant for everyone involved. Booking restoration work in January also avoids competing with the summer rush.
