Pool Maintenance Schedule for Buckeye, AZ

Every Week Without Exception

This is the list that keeps a pool out of trouble. Skipping any of it for two weeks in July is how pools go green, and it is the single most common story behind our emergency calls.

• Skim the surface and empty both baskets
• Brush walls, steps and any waterline shelf
• Vacuum the floor properly, not just visibly
• Test the water and correct it
• Check filter pressure and note it

Monthly Checks

Monthly is where you catch things becoming problems. It is mostly looking rather than doing, and it takes very little time compared with what it prevents.

• Inspect the filter and clean if pressure has climbed
• Look at the salt cell if you have one
• Check the pump for leaks, noise or heat
• Look along the waterline for early calcium
• Confirm the timer is still running the schedule you set

Seasonal Adjustments

This is where Arizona diverges most from generic advice. Run times that suit March are inadequate in July, and chlorine demand roughly doubles as water temperature climbs. Monsoon season brings a debris load that no normal schedule accounts for.

Spring

Increase run times, get the filter cleaned before demand rises, watch for pollen and wind debris.

Summer

Peak chlorine demand, longest run times, watch water level and stabiliser closely.

Monsoon

Expect debris surges after storms and be ready to shock and filter hard.

Winter

Reduce run times, but do not stop maintenance — pools still need circulation and testing.

Every Few Years

Some jobs run on a much longer cycle and get forgotten because nothing prompts them. Water replacement is the big one, and tile cleaning is the one people leave until it is a much larger job than it needed to be.

• Replace the water every two to four years
• Have the waterline tile cleaned before the band hardens
• Replace filter elements when cleaning no longer restores pressure
• Expect a salt cell to need replacing every few years
• Reassess plaster condition as the pool passes each decade
