Why Hosing It Off Isn't Enough

A hose knocks the surface debris off a cartridge, which is why pressure improves briefly and then climbs straight back. What actually blocks flow is oils, sunscreen and fine mineral packed down into the pleats, and that needs the pleats opened and the element soaked properly.

This is the single most common reason a filter seems to need cleaning constantly. It is not the filter — it is that it never got properly clean in the first place.

When to Replace Rather Than Clean

Elements are consumable. When a genuinely clean cartridge still runs high pressure, when pleats are collapsing or the fabric has gone thin and fuzzy, or when end caps are separating, cleaning is no longer buying you anything.
